70s Get The Ball Rolling For The GFA WFL 2024/25 Season

Dave H, Charlie N, Mell M, Laurence E. Abbi H, Graham N, Richard G, Alan B. Although we won this league two years ago with most of the players in this photo, the standard of the other teams has improved significantly. And today we did play three teams that inflicted losses on us last year. First up we played a very strong Weston Super Mare team. Feisty game, and their attack would have given Shergar a good gallop to keep up. We drew 2 v 2 with two fine equalisers from Mel, the first assisted by Graham winning the ball in midfield, and the second assisted by Dave who dispossessed their winger and threaded the ball through to Mel leaving him with just the goalkeeper to beat - which he did with aplomb. We felt pleased with the overall performance and the result. Lots of good interplay work, although we did leave some gaps for them to exploit. Next up Methyr. Before any kick-off all the attendants; players, referees, staff and spectators, observed a minutes silence in honour of Cardiff's Simon Stokes who sadly passed away since the last round of 60s games .  The rain retreated, the clouds dispersed and the sun shone in preparation for the second matchday of Gloucestershire Walking Football League 24/25.
