A Little Bit Of Turbulence - Round 3 Of 60s Wilts League

Calne 60s played in the 3rd round of matches of the Wiltshire league, winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2. Our record now stands at played 17, won 9, drawn 5 and lost 3; total points 32. This keeps us at the top but only on goal difference, and both Swindon A and Devizes (1 point behind) have a game in hand.
The day started with a goalless draw against Highworth, although Graham hit the post with a shot that we felt may well have crossed the goal line on the rebound, but a goal was not awarded. We then beat Melksham 1 v 0 with a goal from Mark following a free kick taken by Paul. Our 3rd game against Salisbury was another goalless draw, although we had the better chances to win the game - but as we know, it's goals that win games.
Our 4th game was a 1 v 0 defeat against Swindon A and in fairness they were the better side on the day, with few chances created by us. Indeed Charlie kept us in the game with some good saves. Then came our most disappointing result, a 2 v 1 defeat against Devizes. After going behind to a deflected shot, we got ourselves back in the game through a screaming, tight angled shot from Mark, but conceded soon after by allowing an opposition player to shoot from distance without closing him down, but it can't be denied, it was a good finish. We redeemed ourselves to an extent by winning our final game against Swindon B 4 v 0, with a brace each from Paul and Mark.
All players contributed on the day with Charlie making some quality saves and having little chance with the goals we conceded. Andy, Jeff and Phil all defended resolutely, with Graham working tirelessly in midfield. Paul and Mark got the goals with some decent finishes and Perry, still recovering from injury, played both in defence and attack, linking play well.

And it was good to see the referees clamping down on dissent, which is not part of the game of walking football - even when the ref is wrong the ref is right!
