(With Melksham not far behind I suppose). Predictive verse: Phil C Rico K (coordinator), Andy S, Terry Mc, Graham N, Nigel L. Jon H, Mark K (captain), Paul W. Spoiler Alert Calne Town WFC finished as runners up in the Hendrie Kr ΓΌ zen Cup (Who?) a t this years Almelo City Cup competition at Herecles Almelo, Asito Stadion . It meant that we returned with silverware for the third successive year and improving on the previous two consecutive third place finishes.    A squad comprising Mark Kirkman, Jon Hayton, Graham Newland, Andy Stone, Nigel Loveless, Terry McCosh and international debutant Paul Wigelsworth performed very well against opposition from England, Germany , Belgium, Poland and Denmark as well as the host country, the Netherlands.   Before we kick-off it's worth ...

65s Wilts League - A Smart Start!

Graham N (c), Phil C, Geoff R, Ollie S. Andy G, Martin P, Richard G, Paul W. On the first matchday of the 2025 WCWFL 65s we were without doubt the smartest team, in our Omnium tracky tops on the sidelines and in our sponsored shirts on the pitch. A number of opposition players even complemented us.  But when it came to game-time, we didn't look so smart! Getting familiar with new teammates we played okay and we had our opportunities up-front, but both the Melksham and Salisbury keepers in particular, played blinders. The rest of the team played their socks-off in defensive and midfield duties and we're sure we'll be more comfortable in the next round on 5 June, when we will need to play wi...

Having started the day in 2nd place in the WCWFL 60s, we had high hopes of maintaining that position, and with a few changes to the squad from match day one, it took a little time to settle. We started off with Highworth. Although we dominated possession and created a number chances Highworth proved difficult to break down. Also with a number of players not having played together before we were a little disjointed. However, two well taken goals from Mark settled us and, in all honesty, John had little to do in goal. Then the crunch game against Swindon. It was a tight game with some pride at steak and although Swindon had most of the possession the team structure meant few chances were created and most of those fell to Swindon, but with Steve at the back and John in goal we were always in the game, albeit on the breakaway. And that is what happened when Dave slipped a pass t...
