Blacks and Greens 60s - 6th and Final Matchday of GFA WFL 24/25

On the last matchday of the GFA WFL 24/25, Calne's Blacks & Greens again saw some movement in their league positions; the Blacks moved up and the Greens moved down. The overall team performances and final positions where reflective of EPL's Arsenal and Tottenham - they have the potential and desire to take top place, but can never quite manage it - next year is our year!

On that note, congratulations to Weston-Super-Mare on taking the champions spot for 24/25. And a big thank you to the organisers at GFA's Oaklands Park, the referees and all the teams and participants who, together, make this an enjoyable challenge regardless of the final results :o[

Greens

The Greens started with a comfortable 2 v 0 win against Hereford with goals from Perry and a last minute effort from Geoff.

Our next game against Barry was a slow start and they had several efforts on goal in the first five minutes. Fortunately our goalkeeper was on form and once we started playing we limited the opposition to few chances during the remainder of the game. But we didn’t create much ourselves so had to settle for a 0 v 0 draw.

Next up was a local derby against Swindon. We created the better chances during this game but failed to convert any and had to settle for another 0 v 0 draw.

The final game was against Bristol Utd. We went ahead in the first half with a penalty from Chris and further goals from Chris and Perry gave us a comfortable 3 v 0 victory.

Some positives from the day: excellent debut by Pete W, good performances by the rest of the squad and we finished top team in Wiltshire.
