Calne Town Blacks Kickoff Their GFA WFL 24/25 Season

The start of the 24/25 60s Gloucester League sees sixteen teams competing for the title.
Calne Town Blacks didn't deserve to lose any of the opening games. We can be a very competitive side as we gain more cohesion and could easily have had another 2 to 4 pts with more luck and discipline.
The first game was a very strong performance to beat Keynsham Yellows with two good goals from Tony (pen) and Beefy. We dominated the game with good passing and had lots of chances.
Cardiff next. Having gone a goal down (we allowed their player to advance from a long way to score) Tony equalised from rebound off the save from a ferocious Beefy shot. And although the equaliser was welcome it could have been 3pts to us but for a penalty miss at the end... 1 v 1 was the result.
Next, another 1 v 1 against Hereford and another goal from Tony. The game was so one-sided and the opportunities to score 5 or 6 more, were there, and after conceding a soft goal at the death, it felt like 2pts lost!
Then 0 v 1 to Clevedon. We had a stronger game but, as is so often the case, one mistake and we lost.
Our other two games were 'Walkovers', and although we would rather compete and win the points on the pitch, this contributed to our 11 points and puts us into 5th position after the first Blacks game day. Well done!
