Dia Um On day one, in temperatures reaching 28 ˚ C (that's 82 ˚F for the older folk amongst us!)  t his group of lads topped ' the group of death'. 0-0 v Firenze 1-0 v  Billericay (Dave; Graham assist) 1-0 v Grimsby (Perry; penalty) Including the pre tournament warm-up games, the squad hadn't conceded in 7 games and were set up nicely for the knock-out stage on day two. Football and Cake In Maidenhead

Image
Back Row: Charlie N, Graham N, Phil C, Perry K. Front Row: Paul W, Pete C, Richard G. This is our third appearance at Maidenhead's annual Macmillan Coffee Morning WF tournament. Despite putting up a good show we didn't get through to the knockout stage and therefore didn't come away with a trophy.  However, this is one of those walking football events where the important thing is the taking part, it was another enjoyable day with good games of football and, as always, excellent cakes. Thanks once again to the organisers,  the referees,  the opposition teams, the sport therapy students, the supporters and those excellent cake makers. And congratulation to the winners, our friends and neighbours, Swindon Town Walking Football Club. Coffee morning or not, you can make a donation to   help Macmillan Cancer Support.

A disappointing final day at the office for both teams.  With a good result agains Melksham, Strollers won 1 and lost 3 and provided a photograph of the team/squad - champions! CTWFC Strollers Back Row: Richard G, John W, Alan R, Terry P. Front Row: Jeff D, Martin  Striders beat Salisbury 4-0 and Swindon B 3-1 and lost  3-1 to Melksham and, largely  as the result of a poor decision by the 'office manager', lost   1-0 to Swindon A,  and with Devizes winning all 4 of their games to overtake, Striders dropped to 4th place. Regardless of disappointments, a big thank you to the organisers, the referees, the participating teams and the supporters. We will see you next year, if not before. Final WCWFL 2023 Standings:
