First Run Out For All Stars

Image
John C, Andy S, Doggo, Kevin G. Sion H, Bill C, Bob B. The Sunday Championship - another great six team tournament hosted by the Chippy boys. The Calne Town WFC All Stars final result was disappointing, in that we missed qualification for the Semi Final by letting in one goal more than Abby United.  Ah well...  As a scratch team there was some good play in terms of structure but the games against Chippenham Blues, a more matured team, cost us. We lost to the Blues twice, 1 v 0 in game one ( did the scorer run into place! 😉) and a deserved 3 v 0 loss in game three, where Chippenham Blues played really well.  Games against Abby United were closer and we kept their goalie busy. Game two was a 1 v 0 win, with a goal from Bob, and a 0 v 0 draw in game four... we created a couple of really good chances to score as well.   Final could not be played so Chippenham Blue and Salisbury tied trophy, also same teams tied fair play. Congratulations to both teams.  Than...

FA National Walking Football Cup

Perry K, Tony N, Geoff R. Jon H, Rob S, Mark K. Let's get straight to the point... we lost in the final to Swindon 0 v 3.  That was after beating Salisbury 2 v 1 in the semi-final with goals from Mark and Jon.  Only 4 teams entered in the Wiltshire FA Rounds, which meant entry to semi-finals was automatic but to see who was pitched against who, we played against each team in a round robin, losing to Swindon 2 v 3, with Perry scoring both goals, Salisbury 1 v 2 (Perry again) and drew 1 v 1 against Melksham with a goal from Mark.  In addition to the scorers, Rob made his comeback between the sticks following a long layoff with a sore finger, there was a guest appearance from Devizes' Geoff who usually scores against us, and Tony made his long awaited first appearance for The Neroverdi.  A good effort overall considering we had not played as a team before and had zero subs on the day. By contrast Swindon had a squad of 9 regulars!  Good luck to Swindon who now make...
